Workplace Mediation Breakfast Taster

Overview:

This 2 hour workshop is for individuals wishing to find out more about mediation in the workplace. No previous experience is necessary.  The course is delivered by an accredited and practising workplace mediator and should be attended by:

• HR staff
• Learning and Development staff
• Lawyers
• Employees interested in being workplace mediators
• Individuals who wish to be mediation consultants

Content includes:

• What is mediation and how does it work?
• Reducing employee stress, absence and sickness
• Reducing the risk of litigation and employment tribunal claims

Overview:

Calm Mediation’s course teaches both the theory and practice of workplace mediation using the facilitative mediation process. Delivered by two trainers who are practising accredited mediators, this highly-interactive six-day course will equip delegates with the skills necessary to become an effective workplace mediator, making them a valuable in-house or external resource for employers. Its realistic, practical approach with plenty of opportunity to try out new skills, enables delegates to experience the role of mediator as it would feel in their organisation. Constructive individual feedback throughout the course ensures continuous development.

Content includes:

• The mediation process and role of the mediator
• Reactions to conflict
• Underlying issues
• Remaining impartial
• Questioning, reframing, summarising
• Practical techniques to manage the mediation meeting
• Writing mediation agreements
• Co-mediation and self & peer evaluation
• Practical assessment.

On days 5 and 6, practical assessments test the skills required of a workplace mediator in realistic cases role-played by practising mediators. Delegates also complete 10 written assignments within two months following the course. These consolidate your learning and enhance the self-reflection of your practice. On passing both the practical and written elements, delegates will be awarded the OCN accredited mediation practitioner qualification.

Calm Mediation’s Workplace Mediation Skills qualification is accredited by the Open College Network. Under the OCN scheme, you will be awarded 9 Credits at Level 3.

Conversion to Workplace Mediation

Overview:

This interactive four day course is aimed at those who have completed training in community mediation and now wish to practice as a workplace mediator. It will look at the context for workplace mediation as well as covering key differences around process, and provide a refresher on skills. The course is delivered by an accredited and practising workplace mediator.
